The Lido Magazine is a project of the Fachhochschule Düsseldorf in colaboration with the museum KIT – Kunst im Tunnel. For each issue there is a team of students who design the whole magazine from scratch (exept some guidelines like format and fonts).
Our team was Marius Obiegala, Julian Mieth and me. The whole process was curated by Gertrud Peters of KIT and Professor Uwe J. Reinhardt and acadamic Anja Steinig of the Hochschule.
Our basic aim was, to get a connection to the post-sputnik era. So our main theme was the television and its matrix. To accent the works of the artists, we illustrated all the other visual content by hand and colorless. Another leitmotif was a gradient in the headlines, which took place throuhout the whole magazine. The third and last part of the magazine is divided form the rest by colored paper and is containing the gloss. Each article in there was about a specific image from that era, so we decided to put these images on stickersheets, so everybody has to stick the image to the certain article. We did that cause its nearly impossible to print colorful images on colored paper and was our special give-away for that issue.
